SuperValu Redux set up.
12 May 2006
Penticton, BC
The SuperValu beams have been stacked in a yard. On top are the big brackets with beam stubs that are going to be part of the SuperValu Redux exhibit. I pulled most of the nails out and flagged the four I want with blue plastic.
1
Blair Chapman of Incline Contracting arrives with a flatbed truck and crane.
2
The first bracket is hoisted...
3
... and is lowered onto the flatbed.
4
The process is repeated for three more pieces.
5
They are tied down and are ready for transport.
6
Back at Leir House the trolleys are waiting.
7
Big lag bolts and scrap 4x4s will be used to secure the brackets to the trolleys. The lag bolts were originally from SuperValu and were salvaged during the demolition.
8
Blair arrives and starts unloading the hardware.
9
The brackets are placed on the trolleys.
10
One more to go ....
11
Done.
12
This separate piece will be on display along with its giant cylindrical pin (not shown, but one can be seen in the next photo). It's heavy but I can lift it.
13
The hardware has been hosed off and bolted to the trolleys.
14
They're lined up like a train, waiting to go up the path to the back yard. I can't push them up myself. I will wait until I can find a helper.
